Stoke City v Derby County may not have been the biggest of Wednesday night’s fixtures across Europe, but it may just have produced the biggest talking point.

While most fans were watching Paris Saint-Germain v Liverpool or Tottenham v Inter Milan on BT Sport, Sky Sports were broadcasting the clash between the two Championship clubs at the bet365 Stadium.

And midway through the first half, it all kicked off after Peter Etebo was shown a red card for a foul on Richard Keogh.

Following Etebo’s dismissal, a melee ensured - and Bradley Johnson was seen arguing with referee Darren England over the late tackle.

He then received a nudge in the back from Stoke’s Joe Allen - and this was the moment when Johnson lost the plot.

The experienced 31-year-old midfielder - who has played for various clubs including Leeds United and Norwich City - turned around and appeared to sink his teeth into Allen.

Just before they were pulled apart, Johnson could be seen with a mouthful of Allen’s shirt.

It appears that he’s done a Luis Suarez.

Remarkably, Johnson avoided a red card for the incident. He received a yellow, and so did Allen.

Football fans were shocked by the incident and believe a lengthy ban for Johnson is now inevitable…

Suarez was hit with a 10-game ban after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic while playing for Liverpool back in April 2013.

He then received a four-month ban from FIFA after biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini while playing for Uruguay at the 2014 World Cup finals.
