Liverpool are hanging on by the skin of their teeth in the Champions League after falling to a 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint Germain at the Parc des Princes.

Jurgen Klopp's side is rarely linked with the term 'reckless' but after receiving six yellow cards in Paris, their sportsmanlike approach seemed to change.

PSG used the undeniable quality they have to stifle and nullify the visitors in what was a frustrating night for the Reds.

However, fans have been up in arms over PSG's approach, claiming that multiple players overreacted when fouled causing an unfair amount of cautions to be distributed.

Goals from Bernat and the returning Neymar sealed the win for the Ligue 1 leaders.

The French side managed to limit the Merseyside club to just one shot on target which was scored from the spot by Reds midfielder James Milner.

Liverpool midfielder James Milner has summed up his thoughts on the match, taking to Twitter to vent his frustrations.

James Milner 'sums up' interesting night in Paris

The Liverpool midfielder made his opinion perfectly clear with this tweet: "This just about sums it up... but one big night at Anfield and we're through"https://twitter.com/JamesMilner/status/1068095611252166656

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp agreed with Milner saying the French side managed to "make us look like butchers." per The Daily Mirror.

The Reds can still qualify for the knockout stages despite this setback and a win against Napoli in two weeks time will be enough to prevent Liverpool with a date against FC Astana in the Europa League.
