After Liverpool's 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint Germain, Jurgen Klopp's side face a must-win encounter against Napoli.

The Italian side are currently sitting top of the group with 'nine points' three points above Liverpool who could finish as low as bottom of the group if Red Star can topple PSG.

Liverpool's ground, Anfield, has been synonymous with big European nights and enthralling atmospheres, however the Napoli boss Carlo Ancellotti tends to disagree.

The ex-Real Madrid and Chelsea boss has fuelled the fire for Napoli's clash with Liverpool, making a mockery of their stomping ground.

The 59-year-old even went as far as to claim his side's next opponents in the league were more imposing than the Reds.

“We must go to Anfield with courage and play our game,” he said.

“Now let’s think about the Serie A game at Atalanta on Monday, which will be more difficult than Liverpool.”

This may have simply been a ploy to play down the importance of Liverpool game in an attempt to take the pressure off his players.

Even so, this is sure to cause a backlash amongst Liverpool fans, players and pundits alike, as Anfield has been the home ground of Liverpool for over 120 years.

Klopp's side have even more of an incentive to topple Napoli and Ancelotti after his comments and need either 1-0 win or a victory by two clear goals to advance.

Despite Ancelotti's controversial comments, the Italian has every right to an opinion after winning three Champions League trophies as a manager; twice with AC Milan and once with Real Madrid.
