Standard and Sevilla played out a comical 15 seconds during Europa League clash

Standard and Sevilla played out a ridiculous 15 seconds of football

Standard Liege kept their hopes of qualifying to the Europa League group stages alive after beating Sevilla 1-0 on Thursday night.

The Belgian side desperately needed a win to stand any chance of progressing and took the lead after 62 minutes through Moussa Djenepo.

Their task was made easier when Pablo Sarabia received his marching orders after picking up a second yellow card with 22 minutes to go.

And Standard would hold on to draw level with Sevilla on nine points in Group J.

Standard will now need to better the Spanish club's result in their last group game.

Sevilla welcome Krasnador, who have won all their group games, while Standard travel to Akhisar, who are yet to pick up a point.

Standard picked up the win but, in reality it should have been more.

A clip has gone viral of the game in stoppage time, where the two sides played out a quite comical 15 seconds of football.

The clip begins with Simon Kjaer attempting to head the ball back to Toms Vaclik, only for the two players to collide after the Czech Republic 'keeper tried to clear it himself.

Standard Liege players celebrate going 1-0 up against Sevilla

The two players desperately tried to get back and, fortunately for them, Vaclik would get back just in time to push the ball onto the post and away.

But they were still not out of danger. A Standard player took his time and laid it off for his teammate, who then rounded Vaclik.

But then another Standard player came out of nowhere and took the ball from him, only to rifle his shot off the bar.

The ball then bounced on the goal-line and Vaclik was able to gather the ball easily.

That is just comical. Unsurprisingly, the clip is quickly going viral on Twitter.

It may well be the worst 15 seconds of play in recent memory.

And for it to happen at such a high standard makes it all the more hilarious.

Sunday League players, if you ever feel bad about turning in a bad performance, just watch this clip and it will make you feel much, much better.
