"I would like to know how much time they wasted tonight. It's frustrating when [Neymar] is falling like he is."

Safe to say Liverpool players were unhappy with the way Paris Saint-Germain players - especially Neymar - behaved during Wednesday night's 2-1 defeat in the Champions League.

Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Angel Di Maria and even Thiago Silva were all guilty of diving and play-acting at some point throughout the game.

It was time-wasting at its finest and unfortunately for Liverpool players, the referee bought into it and awarded several free-kicks that shouldn't have been.

Andy Robertson cut a particularly frustrated figure in his post-match interview as he slammed Neymar but said his diving was something they should have expected.

"I suppose they were in the lead and they were looking to waste time," Roberson added while speaking to Sky Sports. "You can use gamesmanship, play-acting, you can use it all really.

"It's all part and parcel of his game and we needed to deal with that. We didn't quite control our aggression.

"Of course it was frustrating. But when you play against PSG you know it is something you are going to come up against, especially with him."

James Milner also vented his annoyance at PSG players diving by tweeting a picture of Neymar rolling around on the floor with the caption: "This just about sums it up..."

Liverpool players can hardly be blamed for being angry, yet a 15-second clip has emerged showing that they perhaps can't complain too much.

In the video below, Mohamed Salah and Dejan Lovren both produce pretty embarrassing dives to try and win a penalty and free-kick respectively. On both occasions the referee waves play on.

The diving from some PSG players may have been ridiculous, but the hard truth is that Liverpool players tried it too - it just didn't work for them.

Virgil van Dijk even admitted after the game - albeit hastily - that they should have used the same tactics more often.

"Obviously they're world-class players but I don't think it's needed in the game at times," the Dutchman said, per the Guardian.

"Sometimes they get hit and they will go down and sometimes I think it's too easy and I'm getting so frustrated. It's important to keep your head cool.

"We should do the same at times and I think in the second half we did it better. It's not the type of game that I like."
