Jamie Vardy is one of the biggest characters in the Premier League and football fans love him for it.

Having made a remarkable rise from non-league obscurity to the Champions League, Vardy represents a different breed of top-level player and shows anybody can make it to the top.

That was no more apparent than during the fairytale season Leicester City experienced in 2015-16, where Vardy went on a historic run of 11 consecutive Premier League games with a goal.

Alongside players like Riyad Mahrez and Kasper Schmeichel, he played a major role in what will endure as one of the greatest achievements in all of sport.

Two years on and Vardy has shown his loyalty to the club, another sign of his character that has become so popular amongst supporters.

Jamie Vardy's phrases

His loyalty aside, though, and it's his down to earth persona that would lead many to suggest he was still plying his trade with Halifax Town.

It's incredibly refreshing to see in the modern game and often prompts some hilarious Vardy moments, both in interviews and behind the scenes with Leicester.

One of the finest shows of Vardy's character came in an old Facebook post from 2011, where the former England international simply wrote: 'chat s*** get banged.'

Vardy's shin pads vs Watford

Naturally, the post quickly went viral and followed Vardy around for the following months along with fellow tag-lines like 'Jamie Vardy's having a party.'

But the phrase 'chat s*** get banged' could reach new levels of notoriety this weekend after an amusing Instagram post from Vardy's wife Rebekah.

It shows the Leicester striker has ordered himself a pair of shin pads with the phrase written on it and - according to The Sun - they will be worn during the league clash with Watford.

It doesn't get much more Vardy than that - take a look at them down below:

Just brilliant.

Trust Vardy to have such a great sense of humour to not only embrace the old Facebook post, but wear its contents on his shin pads in the Premier League.

The stunt seems to be joining an unlikely trend of players featuring bizarre phrases and photographs beneath their socks during games.

Vardy's decision comes a matter of days after it emerged that Chelsea youngster George Nunn has Sean Dyche on his shin pads because of a joke with his father.

Meanwhile, Matt Ritchie opts for a photograph of sausage rolls as a slang reference to 'goals' and Jorginho has an image of his dogs printed onto his protective attire.

Let's face it, though, Vardy has to take first place on this occasion and only Jordan Pickford's 'get the rave on' football boots can really compare.

It remains to be seen whether they'll prove good luck for Vardy, but it seems they'll get their first test-drive against Watford.
