Pete Dunne excludes himself when picking the best two wrestlers in the world right now

NXT UK seems to be thriving right now, barely a couple of months into its tenure on the WWE Network.

On January 12, NXT UK will have its first-ever TakeOver special emanating from the place that brought us the first-ever United Kingdom Championship tournament - and William Regal's hometown - Blackpool.

Pete Dunne has been reigning atop of the NXT UK division as the United Kingdom champion May 20, 2017.

His 18-month reign is currently the longest in the company and is on course to be one of the longest in the modern history of WWE.

As the face of NXT UK, the Bruiserweight has taken great pride in representing the brand and trying to elevate the British wrestling scene. Although he seems bound for stardom down the road on the main roster, Dunne's sights are much closer to home right now.

Many fans would consider Dunne one of the best performers in the whole WWE and his title-winning match against Bate in 2017 was deemed the Match of the Year in WWE.

But who does Dunne think is the best wrestler in the world right now? The Midland-born star picked two men he sees as a cut above the rest when talking to The Metro.

"On our brand, my standard is always Tyler [Bate]. It might be obvious, but the performances he put in were unreal in Liverpool recently and he was a step above everyone else. It's something for everyone else to chase and that's a good thing. NXT is built on competition and the feel of the matches are competitive, but in the back it's the same.

I see Tyler pull out a great performance and it really makes me want to get in the ring. In the whole of WWE, it's got to be AJ Styles. He's absolutely been killing it for so many years, and now he's in a top spot and rightfully so. I'd love to get in the ring with him someday."

Styles Vs Dunne? Sign us up for that one anytime, yes please!

Bate, as one half of Moustache Mountain, has continued to grow since his inaugural reign as United Kingdom champion and considering he is still only 21-years-old, the sky is the limit for the British star.

British Strong Style

The sooner we get to see Bate and Dunne face off against the very best in WWE, the better. Until then, wrestling fans should enjoy the NXT UK product at ground level.
