Loris Karius has only partially dodged the media spotlight since signing for Besiktas.

A major positive surrounding the German's loan departure from Liverpool was the chance to shuffle away from all the attention, with his Champions League final performance still fresh in the memory. It looked as though Karius would actually be playing on Merseyside this season, but mistakes in pre-season and the capture of Alisson Becker eventually changed that.On the whole, there seems to be a general understanding that Karius is performing decently in Turkey and has been somewhat let down by his defence in recent months.Nevertheless, it would be naive to say there haven't been mistakes and sadly for Karius, the high-profile errors have come in the Europa League.

Karius' progress in Turkey

Europe's second-strong competition receives far more publicity back in England and Premier League fans are becoming more aware of these Karius displays as a result.

Many supporters will still remember his inexplicable clanger against Malmo, where he conceded a wayward delivery by grabbing the crossbar as opposed to the bar.

The 25-year-old had another night to forget during the draw with Sarpsborg this week and a number of shaky moments from the game spread across Twitter.

Besiktas fans show their love

There was to be no time for recovery either with Besiktas facing one of the biggest games of the season just a few days afterwards in the Istanbul derby with Galatasaray.

It turned out to be a significant performance from Besiktas, securing a 1-0 victory as Karius impressed on his way to a clean sheet.

Not only that, but the scenes from full-time raised two fingers to reports that Besiktas fans are starting to grow tired of the Liverpool loanee.

That's because a video has emerged of supporters showing love for him after the game, calling him over to lead their victory chant. Check it out below:

Sadly for Karius, it seems the odd mistakes are overshadowing the major positives.

The German hasn't exactly transformed into a prime Gianluigi Buffon, but he's shown the form that earned him so much respect in the build-up to that night in Kiev.

Liverpool fans are more than aware of Karius' quality on his day and will be happy to see him delivering in one of Besiktas' biggest games yet.

Karius still has well over a year on his loan deal and his time in Turkey could certainly set him up for another high-profile move in Europe.

It remains to be seen whether Karius will ever pull on the Liverpool jersey again, but Jurgen Klopp must be watching from somewhere with a smile.

For the player's sake, it can only be hoped that the positives are shared as much as the negatives.
