Report suggests The Rock will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019

The Rock

The WWE caused a stir last week when they announced a big change to their WrestleMania weekend plans.

For a while now - extending to SummerSlam, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble weekends - NXT TakeOver takes place on the Saturday night prior to the main roster pay-per-view on the Sunday.

Of course, during WrestleMania weekend, there is the added fixture of the Hall of Fame ceremony, and that used to take place on the Saturday night before NXT took its place and moved the Hall of Fame to the Friday a few years ago.

WWE has now decided that TakeOver will go back to it's old Friday spot so the Hall of Fame can retain its original home on Saturday night. They did this because they believe it "better serves our fans."

Fans have speculated that WWE have made this move to avoid competing with the Ring of Honor and New Japan's G1 Supercard show on the Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

Still, there are indie events all weekend and there is no weekend bigger than WrestleMania in the industry, so that must be hard to believe. Plus, if anything could compete with Ring of Honor and New Japan combining forces at MSG, it's an NXT TakeOver.

According to, the real reason WWE may have moved the show is because they plan to induct The Rock into the Hall of Fame and he is only available on the Saturday from his hectic filming schedule.

The Great One is a 10-time world champion in WWE and had been rumoured to be in line to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 35 before The Big Dog was struck down with leuakaemia.

Reigns & The Rock

Obviously, those plans have had to be shelved and now The Rock may just take his rightful place in the Hall of Fame. That normally includes an appearance on the Sunday, but we'll have to see if Rocky could stretch to that.

Rajah stresses that this is a rumour at present, but there is no doubt The Rock is the definition of the Hall of Fame. He is one of the highest grossing wrestlers in the history of the business and was the biggest draw at the very time WWE put WCW out of business.

Press Conference To Announce A Major International Event At MetLife Stadium

He's arguably the best talker in the history of the business and he's quite possibly the only wrestler ever to be an actual household name all over the world. Maybe not even Hulk Hogan can say that.
