This week on SmackDown Live, WWE continued their build towards TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs later this month by further pushing the feud between Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles.

The WWE Champion will defend his title against The Phenomenal One at TLC on December 16, but The King of Beards cemented his position as a heel with his actions on the blue brand show last night.

Bryan started things off with arguably his best heel work since his turn during an appearance alongside The Miz on Miz TV.

Despite The Awesome One wanting Bryan to admit that he became WWE champion by listening to Miz, Bryan instead directed his anger to the fans with his climate change gimmick, blaming them for ruining the environment and being constantly fickle.

Throughout most of his promos, fans in Austin, Texas were shouting the classic 'What?' chant, to which The King of Beards gave an awesome reply and shut them down completely.

He said in response to the 'What?' chants: "They're reciting something stupid from 20 years ago but they can't help themselves." Skip ahead to about a minute in the video below to see it for yourself.

Sit down Austin, you've just been served.

WWE fans on Twitter reacted to Bryan's comment, praising him for his modern-day touch on the chant which originated during the Attitude Era.

Later on in the night, Bryan got involved in the main event match between Styles and The Miz, but despite his involvement to help out The Awesome One, The Phenomenal One was still able to win the clash.

Afterward, the WWE Champion attacked his TLC challenger, hitting him with several chop blocks as well as smashing his knee repeatedly into the ring post to close the show.

Daniel Bryan showed why he's WWE's top heel on SmackDown Live this week

Many WWE fans knew that Bryan would be able to work as a heel, but he is by far one of the most original heels on the WWE roster right now with his gimmick and with the promos he is producing in the ring.

He's stepped into the role of SmackDown's top heel really well, and hopefully, this will lead to a long run of him being WWE Champion or at least a long program in the blue brand's main event picture.
