Vince McMahon's thoughts on Baron Corbin as general manager of Raw

It started with Baron Corbin serving as the constable of Raw, giving commissioner Stephanie McMahon someone who could watch over general manager Kurt Angle.

After winning the Money in the Bank briefcase and failing to cash-in and having a short and less-than-sweet United States title reign, it's fair to say Corbin has had a bit of a stop-start career in the WWE.

However, it seems like the Lone Wolf has found his feet on Raw and as the acting general manager and he has been a featured part of the show every single week as of late.

At the Tables, Ladders and Chairs, Corbin faces Braun Strowman in a match that if he wins, he can become the permanent full-time GM of Monday Night Raw.

If his comments about Vince McMahon's thoughts on his run as GM are anything to go by, he may well win.

Talking to Booker T on his podcast Heated Conversations, Corbin said Vince loves his run as GM. Thanks to NoDQ.com for the transcription.

“They’re letting me have fun with it. They’re letting me do it my way as me and Vince [McMahon] loves it. For the last four weeks I’ve been the first 15 minutes of Monday Night RAW, which is crazy. That’s a John Cena spot and that’s a Roman Reigns spot and I’m doing it.”

“And it’s a great opportunity and I love the challenge. I love being able to do that every single week and fill it. And right now, people have me for it and I love it!” Corbin explained, “like, they despise that I’m on their TV six or seven times a night.”

Corbin is spot-on in the sense that he has been heavily featured recently, but with the reviews that Raw has been getting might not reflect too kindly on him.

Corbin also opened up about having heat backstage in WWE when he initially joined the company from the NFL.

“100%, but I think that’s anything in any competitive business whether it’s UFC, the NFL, or WWE. It’s a competitive business and everybody wants to be the best. And when there’s a new guy coming in and there’s buzz about him, ‘oh, he was a pro football player,’ you instantly have people that don’t like you because they’re afraid you’re going to take their spot.”

“Of course, I poured salt on the wound saying, ‘yeah, I’m going to take it – I get paid more than you and I’m better than you.'”
