The rules for the Floyd Mayweather and Tenshin Nasukawa exhibition fight have officially been announced.
Both 'Money' and Nasukawa himself were at Floyd's Las Vegas boxing club on Thursday for the media day ahead of the fight in Japan.
The fight will be governed by straight boxing rules, and will be three rounds lasting three minutes each.
Both fighters will also wear Rizin 8 ounce gloves, and both fighters will be fighting at a weight of 147lbs, a large increase for Nasukawa and a small weight loss for Mayweather.
The interesting rule that is standing out to fans and pundits is that there will be no judges, so if the fight lasts the three rounds there will be no decisions.
The fight will be a full contact competition, but the bout will not enter the boxing or MMA record books.
Mayweather spoke at the media day on Thursday about the fight and the release of the rules earlier that day.
Speaking to the press, Money said: “I love fighting against fighters from all walks of life, like in my amateur days.
“It’s all about entertainment. Nine minutes of entertainment. It’s going to be amazing,” continued the undefeated American boxer.
“I’m in the entertainment business. That’s what I go out there to do. I love to do this. I’m working out to put on a show for three rounds.”
The fight at Rizin 14 on December 31 will be the first time that Mayweather has ever competed in Japan.
Nasukawa is the first Japanese fighter to face Mayweather, and the 20-year-old kick boxing prodigy has been in Vegas for the last few days, sparring with the likes of Jorge Linares to gain vital experience before stepping into the ring with Mayweather.
The young Japanese star spoke of his determination to make an impression on the world stage against Mayweather when asked at the media day.
“There’s never been a Japanese fighter to face Floyd Mayweather in the ring. As an athlete, this is something that’s a great honour and a challenging task. I’d like to make a big impression.”
Rizin 14 is a star-studded card featuring a champion vs. champion match from MMA, with Darrion Caldwell facing Kyoji Horiguchi, but Mayweather vs. Nasukawa is likely to be high on the card.
