There was once a time when Dutch football superstar Arjen Robben was considered one of the best players on the planet, but, as is always the case with every sports star, age has started to creep up on him and he is looking to spend his twilight years somewhere new.

The 34-year-old has spent the past eight years playing for German giants Bayern Munich, but he has recently announced that he is leaving the club at the end of the current season, which will no doubt leave some very big shoes to fill.

While Robben will be looking for one last big payday in football, possibly heading to China, Japan or even the MLS, there are two young stars coming through who will both be looking to take his place and fill the void next season.

Serge Gnabry joined Bayern Munich from Arsenal and spent last season out on loan, but is determined to prove his worth to the club.

While Kingsley Coman is already closing in on 100 appearance for the German side.

Now, Robben has admitted that he has high hopes for both youngsters.

He explained, per Squawka: "We work and talk together every day, but it’s down to the young players themselves. You give tips when necessary, because you’ve got the experience in that position. But at the end of the day you have to work things out for yourself.

“You need to gain experience, work hard, never be satisfied and always try to improve and perform for the team. I hope they’ll be successful.

“I hope from the bottom of my heart they do, but it’s down to the them. They have a long journey ahead of them, but they have plenty of talent. When you speak about our positions with Serge and King [Coman], they’re two very good players.

“They want to improve, they want to prove themselves and they work hard. They’ve got great character, too. That pleases me. I hope they develop more in this way and play an important role in the club."

With Serge Gnabry still only 23-years-old, and Kingsley Coman only 22, they still have their whole careers ahead of them, and we look forward to seeing if they have what it takes to live up to the high standards set by the great Arjen Robben.
