Manchester United are up to sixth in the Premier League after thrashing Fulham 4-1 at Old Trafford.

Following their 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Wednesday, Jose Mourinho’s side were 3-0 ahead against Claudio Ranieri's side by half-time.

Ashley Young opened the scoring before Juan Mata doubled their lead before the half-hour mark.

Then, Romelu Lukaku - who was left out against Arsenal - sealed all three points before half-time with a tap-in before the break.

Job done after just 45 minutes.

It was Lukaku’s first goal at Old Trafford since March 31, ending a run of 997 minutes in all competitions without netting.

In truth, it’s been a tough campaign for the Belgian.

And despite finding the back of the net, Lukaku produced yet another poor moment in the first half.

After being played the ball by Rashford, Lukaku should have been through on goal.

But his terrible touch gave away possession.

Take a look:

Oh dear.

That bad touch didn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things for United, though.

Aboubakar Kamara did pull a goal back from the penalty spot for Fulham but Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa was sent off for the visitors just one minute later.

That allowed United to ease to victory with Rashford getting a goal for himself to win 4-1.

The Red Devils will now face Valencia on Wednesday having already qualified for the last-16 before they take on Liverpool next Sunday in a massive clash at Anfield.

Ahead of Manchester City's trip to Chelsea on Saturday evening, United now sit just five points behind Maurizio Sarri's side.

But despite their win, they're still a long way away from where they want to be.
