A week has passed since Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder’s enthralling fight in Los Angeles.

In what was a genuine contender for the best fight of 2018, the two heavyweights kept their unbeaten records in check with a draw at the Staples Center.

Many boxing fans felt the judges’ decision was harsh on Fury, who’d dominated many of the rounds. However, the British heavyweight was knocked down twice.

It’s still mystifying how Fury recovered from that knockdown in the 12th round.

Wilder’s face said it all - he thought he’d secured the 41st victory of his career - but Fury somehow got himself back off the canvas, beat the referee’s count and went on to finish the fight.

Despite all of the pre-fight trash-talking, the pair embraced when it was all over.

Fury was seen on camera saying a few words to Wilder, who has now revealed what his opponent said.

Reviewing the fight alongside several journalists for Showtime, Wilder claims that Fury did all the talking and was incredibly thankful to him for taking the fight in the first place.

“He was doing all the talking,” Wilder said. “He was telling me how he loves me and ‘thank you for the opportunity’.

“He was talking about supporting the kids and ‘we did it - you’re a great champion, no-one’s going to beat you’.

"Different things like that, you know what I mean?”

It’s interesting that Fury said to Wilder ‘no-one’s going to beat you’ - especially as a rematch between the two is expected to happen in spring 2019.

The WBC have sanctioned a “direct rematch” between the heavyweights following a unanimous agreement in a meeting of the board of governors.

Wilder also revealed his thoughts after seeing Fury recover from that knockdown in the final round.

Asked what went through his mind when Fury got up, Wilder added: “I was amazed.

"If you didn’t believe in God then, you do now!”

Fair play, Deontay, that’s pretty funny.
