Kell Brook did little to excite the boxing world with his performance against Michael Zerafa on Saturday night.
The Sheffield star beat the Australian by unanimous decision, but he failed to land any real big punches and did get tagged quite a few times.
If Brook has aspirations of winning back his world title, he will need to improve a lot.
However, instead of tackling the world elite out there, Brook is still being linked with an all-British bout against long-time rival Amir Khan.
Both fighters are under the same promotion, Matchroom and Eddie Hearn, with the bout surely at the 'now or never' stage.
Brook has constantly slammed Khan for ducking him, with Khan now linked with a world title shot at WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford.
But it seems Hearn is determined for Khan not to make the trip across the pond and wants to give the British boxing fans what they want.
"The offer is already in and what Amir can make for the fight. He has got the Crawford offer, we all know what that is - it is public. He can make more than double for Kell Brook ," said Hearn, per Mirror.
“Maybe money is not the be-all and end-all, but you have to take note.”
Hearn’s offer to Khan consists of a flat fee plus a portion of the fight's pay-per-view income, which will come to around £7.8m, double that of the £3.9m Crawford offer.
The promoter then argued that the fight would still draw a big audience, but did hint that both fighters are past their peak.
He said: “It will be the biggest thing going when they get together, because they cannot stand each other. It will be the most epic build-up for a completely 50-50 fight.
“Are they still in the prime of their careers? There is an argument that Kell is not as good as when he fought Shawn Porter, maybe Amir is not as good as when he boxed Marcos Maidana. But they’re still world-class fighters.
“After that performance by Kell, I have to say Amir is the favourite in the fight.”
Hearn then added: “There is still enough interest to have it in a stadium, but it could be an arena.
“People will forget about that performance [against Zerafa] two days later. They will know about the history and the build-up. When they get together it will be epic.”
