Joe Gomez has been superb for Liverpool this season. The English defender has formed a formidable partnership with Virgil van Dijk at the back for the Reds.It has been their influence in defence that has led to Liverpool having the best defence in the Premier League so far this season, having conceded just six times in 16 games. And Gomez was rewarded for his performances this campaign with a new contract, extending his stay at the club until 2024.“Signing this new deal means the world to me," he told Liverpoolfc.com.“I’ve been at the club a few years now and have had the pleasure to play for Liverpool and experience what that means, so I am delighted to get the chance to extend my contract here.“I love the club, I love playing and learning here, and I am happy for that to continue.”One player that would have been ecstatic with the news is Van Dijk. The two players have formed a strong bond both on and off the pitch, and Van Dijk showed that in his congratulations tweet to Gomez. In reaction to the news, Van Dijk tweeted: "The moment I found out @J_Gomez97 signed his new deal!✍🏽 Well deserved brother 😁 #WeAreLiverpool".The tweet is then accompanied with a video of Van Dijk hugging the 21-year-old in training.

That just sums up their bromance at the club.

Gomez is currently out with a lower left leg fracture and he replied to Van Dijk by instructing him to 'keep us going' against Napoli on Tuesday night.

Thanks my bro❤️... Keep us going tomorrow ⛰💪" Gomez replied.

Van Dijk also touched on Gomez's contract extension in his press conference before Liverpool's crunch Champions League match against Napoli.

“Joe Gomez deal is well deserved," he said, per the Liverpool Echo.

“He’s a great player and he’s shown it for us and for England. He’s only going to get better.”
