There is no denying that Raw has not been up to the once high standards it had set lately.

Fans have been complaining about the Red Brand for the past few weeks and reports have suggested that Vince McMahon has been writing these shows at the last minute - and it shows.

With no Braun Strowman or Roman Reigns at the moment, Monday nights has had to recalibrate and it has certainly struggled to do so.

For the go-home edition of the Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view this week, Raw looked to address those problems head on.

Apart from a TLC match in the main event between Seth Rollins and Baron Corbin for the Intercontinental title, a tag team title match between Bobby Roode and Chad Gable and the Authors of Pain and their manager Drake Maverick was also booked.

The handicap was for one purpose and one purpose only. Last week, Maverick got a really cheap win over the team of Roode and Gable after Roode was left alone with AOP and decimated.

Maverick tried that trick again this week but the British star was rolled up by Roode to crown new tag team champions.

It's hard to say whether that is a good decision or not right now. AOP were booked as an unstoppable force and while it seems like Maverick originally focused them to win the tag titles, now all he's doing is holding them back.

Roode and Gable wore matching gear and did a synchronised entrance for the first time on Raw. That should have been a sure-fire sign there were going to win the titles right there and it seems as though this team is going to last a while.

Beyond those two teams, the Raw division is very shallow. Other than The Revival, the Lucha House Party and the Ascension, there is literally no one and hardly any of those are credible at this point.

This title switch was also likely done because there is no space on the card at TLC this Sunday. There is already 11 matches scheduled for the PPV, so it made sense to give Raw a big moment.
