Ajax's Frenkie de Jong is one of the most in-demand young players on the planet right now, with a whole host of major sides looking for his signature.

While it would be difficult to find a club that isn't willing to bring in De Jong, three appear to lead the race: Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City.

The Catalonians were thought to have led the race for quite a while until it was reported by De Telegraaf last week that PSG had agreed to a deal.

The alleged fee was 75m euros - a fee that would absolutely smash the current Eredivisie record sale of Davinson Sanchez's 40m euros move to Tottenham Hotspur.

It's a remarkable fee for a player who is only in his second full season in the Eredivisie but it does reflect the level of demand for him.

Barca are said to be refusing to give up, believing that they can still convince De Jong to ignore the riches that PSG will throw at him.

Man City, on the other hand, will need to decide if they can afford to risk Financial Fair Play sanctions with a pursuit for the player, something they're being very careful with in wake of the Football Leaks revelations.

So why all the hype and why all the demand?

De Jong has become a key player for the Netherlands, as well as Ajax.

Well, youtube channel finalthrd has gone some way to explaining it with a brilliant video that details De Jong's considerable talents.

You can check out the video below:

It's easy to see why De Jong would be such an asset to a top club; the 21-year-old's ability to completely run a midfield could see his fee eventually feel like a bargain.

The new few months should give us a better idea of where he'll be playing his football next season, as it's unlikely to be Ajax.

De Jong is fortunate enough to have his pick of elite European clubs and quite honestly, it's easy to see why.
