Manchester United travelled to Valencia for their final Champions League group stage game with qualification already secured.Jose Mourinho’s side still held out hope of winning the group but needed three points in Spain and hope Young Boys could get a result against Juventus in the other game. But with a clash against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, it probably wasn’t too surprising to see Mourinho make eight changes to the game. One of the players to keep his place from the 4-1 victory against Fulham was Romelu Lukaku.Lukaku scored his sixth goal of the season last weekend and would have been looking to build up his confidence even further ahead of their trip to Liverpool. But within four minutes, Lukaku suffered, yet another, embarrassing moment.United produced a brilliant counter-attack with players breaking forward with pace. All that was needed was Lukaku to turn and play in either Fred or Andreas Pereira. However, as we’ve come to expect, the Belgian striker took a terrible touch and the chance was gone.

Shortly afterward, United were behind thanks to Carlos Soler’s brilliant driven finish.

Earlier this week, Lukaku revealed that he had a meeting with Mourinho about his current role at United after being left on the bench recently.

"I think I just need to keep working hard. Me and the manager had good conversations in the last couple of days, where really he told me what he wanted from me," he said, per Sky Sports.

"I know from my side I have to do better, and I just keep looking forward and improving, trying to add into my game and help the team to win."
