Real Madrid's air of invincibility in the Champions League appears to be fading quickly.

Los Blancos have won the competition the last three years in a row and did still top the group this time around.

However, they failed to do so in any sort of style, losing twice to CSKA Moscow, including a 3-0 humbling at the Bernabeu last night.

While they may have beaten Roma twice in the group, the Italian's side woeful domestic form this season makes them far more hollow victories.

To put it simply, any second-placed side going through to the last-16 wouldn't mind drawing the holders this time around.

The loss to CSKA will have Santiago Solari deeply concerned, with Isco yet again being heavily targeted by the Real Madrid fans.

He was whistled and jeered every time he touched the ball at one point, with Marcelo also revealing after the game that Isco refused to take the captain's armband off of him.

Was it an unnecessary revelation by the Brazilian given Isco's current predicament? Well, that certainly could the case.

Madrid-based paper Marca have since explained the reasoning behind the Spaniard's decision and it was not due to the negative reception he was receiving from the crowd.

They reveal that Isco had promised the armband to Dani Carvajal after he had taken it while the two were on the pitch at the same time in the cup game against Melilla.

Isco technically holds a two-day seniority over Carvajal, arriving with the first-team two days prior and as such promised he would let the right-back take it.

So when Marcelo departed in the 84th minute, Isco instructed him to hand the armband over to Carvajal - a nice touch really by the playmaker.

Real's next game pits them against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Saturday and it will be interesting to see Isco's involvement after another troubling evening under Solari.
