The season is only three months old but the Mohamed Salah vs Eden Hazard debate has already swung in multiple directions.
When Hazard found the net with his stunning individual goal at Anfield, supporters were convinced the Chelsea man held the upper hand and some even branded Salah a 'one season wonder.'
Fast forward to December, though, and that couldn't be further from the truth with Salah raking in the goals and Hazard's influence slowly fading over the weeks.
The Liverpool man delivered a sensational hat-trick against Bournemouth against the weekend, before scoring the winner in the Napoli game to save their Champions League future.
Hazard certainly hasn't flopped in recent weeks, he produced two assists against Manchester City, but the goals have dried up for the mercurial Belgian.
Hazard vs Salah debate
It's been well over two months since Hazard found the net against Southampton and Salah boasts a superior record of 13 goals in 23 outings.
Yet, although no-one can argue the current winner based on form, debate continues to rage over which player is the top dog in the long-term.
And that's a question Liverpool Echo writer Connor Dunn has sought to answer and he believes he has the key to Salah gaining the upper hand.
The key point about Salah
"In the domestic campaign there is not much to separate their wonderful abilities," Dunn wrote.
"Salah has made 16 appearances and scored 10 times while assisting four. Hazard has made 15 appearance and scored seven times but assisted eight.
"Both players contribution to their team is nothing short of remarkable this year. However, it is in Europe where Jurgen Klopp's star man takes it above and beyond.
"To put it simply Eden Hazard has scored 14 goals in Europe in his entire career with Lille and Chelsea.
"In less than 18 months at Liverpool, Mohamed Salah has scored 14 Champions League goals. You simply cannot argue with those incredible numbers from the Reds winger."
Wow, that really is some statistic.
It goes to show that Hazard has actually underperformed on the European stage during his time at Chelsea, even with the club missing out on the competition in 2016 and 2018.
Meanwhile, Salah has matched his impact in the space of one season and that's not to mention his European goals with both Basel and AS Roma.
It's so close between the two players that little details like this are crucial and Salah will be eyeing some of Hazard's Premier League achievements in the coming years.
He's been something of a phenomena since signing for Liverpool last summer and he's quickly rubbished any suggestions of a drop off this season.
In every department, the Liverpool man is on top at the moment.
