Chelsea failed to beat Vidi in their final group L game in the Europa League.
Willian broke the deadlock for the visitors after half-an-hour with a sumptuous free-kick, only for Ethan Ampadu to concede an own goal two minutes later.
Vidi took a surprise lead in the second half when Loic Nego scored a sensational volley, only for Olivier Giroud to score Chelsea's second free-kick on the night to ensure the match finished all square.
As always in the Europa League, Maurizio Sarri decided to play a second string side.
One man that was given his opportunity to perform was Ethan Ampadu.
The 18-year-old is regarded as one of Chelsea's best young prospects and he looked the part in the opening 30 minutes.
But Ampadu, who was making his first start of the season, then headed into his own net to draw Vidi level.
It was a disappointing moment for Ampadu, but he reacted well to the setback and put in a good performance.
Chelsea fans were active in sharing their thoughts about Ampadu and many made the same point about the Wales international.
Fans praised the youngster for his reaction to his own-goal, with many noting how he showed maturity was beyond his years.
It'll be interesting to see how Ampadu develops in the future.
He has shown both the talent and the character to turn into a special player.
Although it wasn't his greatest performance, it certainly looks like Chelsea have a real talent in their ranks.
Sarri declared that he was pleased with Ampadu's performance in his post-match press conference.
"The own goal is not the fault of Ampadu," he said, per football.london.com. "We were zonal marking.
"When an opponent touches a ball at first it is difficult. I think he played a very good match You need to consider if you play Ampadu in the usual team it is easier for him.
"It is not easy for him with so many changes.
"I am pleased with him and Callum. They need to improve in every well, tactically, but they are in the right way."
