Peterborough boss Gary Johnson admitted the serious injury suffered by Dave Hibbert "took the shine" off his side's 4-1 FA Cup first-round replay win over Stockport.
The striker suffered a dislocated knee-cap only 10 minutes after being introduced into proceedings and now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Johnson said: "The injury to Dave is very serious and took a shine off a decent performance and result. He is going to be out for a long time. I don't know which black cat he ran over but it must have been a big one because the bloke has had terrible luck."
On the game, he added: "We scored four and created a lot more. We played very well and took a step back in the right direction.
"You can't go from losing 5-1 as we did on Saturday to being top class straightaway. It is about building bricks, rebuilding reputations and winning back friends and hopefully we started to do that.
"We had a 30-minute spell in the second half where we looked back to our best. We passed, we moved and we demoralised the opposition. Everyone played a part in the result and there wasn't a single shrinking violet. It would have been nice to keep a clean sheet as well but that's just not us!"
