Liverpool have escaped the Champions League Group of Death by the skin of their teeth.

After three losses in their three away matches, Jurgen Klopp’s side needed to beat Napoli 1-0 or by two clear goals in their final group stage match.

Mohamed Salah scored the only goal of the game at Anfield to send Liverpool through as group runners-up.

It was always going to be nervy, though, and Alisson had to prevent Arkadiusz Milik from equalising in injury-time with a fantastic save.

Phew.

But Liverpool could have made life a bit easier for themselves if they had converted some of the hatful of chances they missed - especially in the second-half.

Sadio Mane was probably more guilty than most and, following Millk’s miss, had the perfect opportunity to put the icing on the cake for Liverpool.

Mane broke clean through on goal and had a one-on-one with David Ospina in front of the Kop.

With just 45 seconds remaining of injury-time, a Liverpool goal would still have meant Napoli needed to just score once.

But Liverpool fans were still praying Mane would finish. He didn’t, though, as he dragged his shot wide.

Everyone had their heads in their hands - but not Salah.

New footage has emerged from ‘Inside Anfield’ that shows how the Egyptian reacted.

With Mane looking on in disbelief, Salah gave him a massive shove to make sure he got back to defend the resulting free-kick.

As if to say: "Don't worry mate, just get back and defend!"

LIVERPOOL FANS LOVED IT

It was something Liverpool fans noticed after watching the video and they very much enjoyed it:

Mane can make amends for his misses against Napoli by producing the goods when Manchester United come to Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool are currently 16 points ahead of Jose Mourinho’s side and need to keep the pressure on Manchester City with a win.
