One of the great things about FIFA is that you can find out the outcome of dream scenarios.

Keen to find out whether a team of Cristiano Ronaldos could defeat a team of Lionel Messis? You can make it happen.

Want to pit the world’s tallest players against the world’s shortest players? Go for it. The only thing stopping you is your imagination.

One FIFA 19 experiment has racked up thousands of views on YouTube sees a current World XI going head-to-head against a legendary Icons XI.

One on team you have the likes of Ronaldo and Messi, and on the other Pele and Diego Maradona.

Here’s the World Xi…

That’s a strong team. A front-three of Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar is going to cause problems for any combination of defenders throughout football history.

Here’s the Icons XI…

Jeez. That front four is fearsome. The Brazilian Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Maradona and Pele in the number 10 role.

Get your popcorn ready because this is going to be good.

First half

Despite all of the attacking talent on show, the two teams went into the break all square.

The World XI had more attempts at goal, but it was the Icons XI who dominated possession.

Second half

Messi breaks the deadlock for the World XI in the 53rd minute with an emphatic finish past Lev Yashin.

Not even arguably the best keeper in history can stop the Argentine maestro.

However, the Icons XI force extra time when Pele receives the ball inside the box and lashes it past David de Gea.

With no goals scored in extra-time, it’s time for a dreaded penalty shoot-out.

Yashin was the hero, saving Gareth Bale’s spot-kick to win the match for the Icons XI.

Man of the Match

Although his side were beaten, Messi picked up the Man of the Match award with an 8.1 rating.

Yet more proof that he’s the true GOAT.
