It has been a thoroughly forgettable start to the season for Real Madrid.
After the high of winning their third UEFA Champions League title on the bounce in May, the Spanish mega-club have experienced a startling dip in form.
Having sold the talismanic Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, the club has lurched from one poor result to the next.
While they may have qualified for the next round of the Champions League with a game to spare, there has not been much else to write home about.
However, while it is clear that Ronaldo has left a gaping hole at the Bernabeu there are some fans who believe that his absence isn’t entirely to blame for their shoddy season.
Madrid splurged on World Cup Golden Glove winner Thibaut Courtois in the summer as they looked to sure up their defence even further.
However, the move has proved to be somewhat of a nightmare for both parties, with Courtois looking frightfully fragile at the back.
He has already racked up plenty of avoidable mistakes and his new fan base are on the brink of giving up on him.
You simply have to perform week-in-week-out to keep the Madrid faithful happy and the Belgian stopper has not done that at all.
The club has not made it easy on their newest Galactico, however, after posting a wonderful tribute to back up goalkeeper Keylor Navas in celebration of his 32nd birthday.
Brilliant - some truly wonderful bits of goalkeeping on show.
The Costa Rican was between the sticks in all three of Madrid’s recent Champions League triumphs and has shown himself to be a more than capable keeper.
Calls for Navas to be reinstated as the club’s number one have only been growing louder in the last few weeks and this video has only served to fan those flames.
Take a look at some of the responses from Madrid fans to the video below:
Not a happy bunch then.
You really can’t blame them, though.
Courtois has been woeful at times and with a world-class stopper like Navas languishing on the bench, it is no surprise that the fans are calling for change.
You can’t help but feel that Courtois is simply running out of chances at his new club.
