Frank Gore's NFL career looks to be in jeopardy after he suffered a nasty injury during the Miami Dolphins' Week 15 game today against the Minnesota Vikings.Gore entered the game as the Dolphins' leading rusher with 708 yards despite being 35 years old, as well as sharing the backfield with Kenyan Drake. However, his time in the NFL might now be over after he suffered a bad-looking injury during the early stages of his team's game against the Vikings. At the end of the first quarter, Gore went down after a hit and was unable to get off the field without assistance by the Dolphins medical team. His day finished with five carries for only 14 yards. After a visit to the medical tent, the running back had to be transported to the Dolphins' locker room via a cart, which doesn't bode well for his chances of playing again this season.

Gore was then ruled out of the game by Miami at halftime, and now further reports have stated what the severity of the injury.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Gore suffered a foot sprain, but the X-Rays came back negative. While this is obviously good news for the running back, his availability going forward is up in the air.

With two games left on the season and at the age of 35, there's a chance that this injury may have brought an unfortunate end to Gore's career in the NFL after 14 seasons.

If Gore is out for the rest of the season, Drake will take over control of the backfield alongside Brandon Bolden and Kalen Ballage.

The Dolphins' running game has managed to cope just fine without Gore at the moment against the Vikings, as Ballage scored a 75-yard rushing touchdown to kick off the third quarter. He has nine carries for 106 yards and a touchdown on the day so far at the time of publishing.

However, Gore's injury will not only be a loss for the Dolphins if he is forced to miss the rest of the season, but a loss for the NFL as well if the running back is forced to bring his career to an end.
