It's been a year of first-evers for the women of the WWE - a first Royal Rumble match, first all-women's pay-per-view and a first Last Woman Standing match.

And the women of SmackDown Live made more history at Tables, Ladders and Chairs last night, as they main evented in a triple threat match.

The champion Becky Lynch, and the challengers Charlotte Flair and Asuka all went to war in the eponymous bout, and with the stature of all three competitors, it was bound to be a sure-fire classic before the bell rang.

All three ladies brought a level of brutality never seen by the women on the main roster before - chair shots, ladder shots, table breaks and kendo sticks - all were legal and all looked brutal.

There were a few botches though, including Asuka not fully going through the barrier at ringside when Flair decided to try and Spear her through it.

But the most painful looking bump of them all was landed on the body of Flair.

As Lynch ascended a ladder on the outside of the ring with both Flair and Asuka prone on the table, it was obvious what was about to happen.

Lynch went for the flying leg drop, but seemingly landed most of her body weight on Charlotte's midriff, something that looked incredibly painful.

Charlotte's four words shouted out loud following the impact told you all you needed to know.

"Oh god. Oh f**k."

As Corey Graves alluded to on commentary, it would be incredibly surprisingly if the daughter of 16-time world champion Ric Flair did not have a few busted ribs after such a move.

It's even a surprise that she went on to complete the match, with both herself and Lynch battling on the same ladder, only to be thwarted by an interference from Ronda Rousey, allowing Asuka to become the new champion.

That moment is surely leading to bigger things at the Royal Rumble and potentially WrestleMania, but let it be known that the women once again stole the show on a WWE pay-per-view stage.
