Northampton manager Ian Sampson has revealed the club are monitoring Leon McKenzie's fitness on a day-by-day basis.

McKenzie has been a hit since joining the Cobblers, scoring five goals in three matches in October before picking up a thigh injury, but has a nagging knee problem which requires constant nurture.

"Leon McKenzie is fit and it's nice to have nearly a fully fit squad to choose from," Sampson said. "We are constantly monitoring Leon's fitness but he is an experienced player and he knows his own body so we are guided by him a little bit as well."

He added: "If he plays on Saturday we will see how he is on Sunday but we are just taking it a game at a time with him at the moment."
