The draw for the Champions League last 16 didn’t disappoint.Atletico Madrid will take on Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur will meet Borussia Dortmund in two absorbing ties.Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Madrid; Juventus, among the favourites to win the competition, were drawn against Diego Simeone’s Atleti.Meanwhile, Manchester United face a daunting clash against Paris Saint-Germain.Liverpool were drawn against Bayern Munich in another matchup that is certain to provide plenty of entertainment.Bayern finished top of Group E, going unbeaten, but they won’t scare Jurgen Klopp’s side.Indeed, the Bavarians, currently nine points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, have had to dismiss rumours that coach Niko Kovac will be sacked.
Bayern Munich fans are reacting
So despite their reputation as one of the behemoths of European football, this is a great draw for Liverpool.
And it’s left Bayern supporters utterly deflated.
Taking to the club’s reddit page, fans expressed their disappointment and are expecting their Champions League run to progress no further.
“Well, at least we will have a big part of the year just to focus on the Bundesliga,” user Damyxs wrote.
“Oh god [Jerome] Boating up against any Liverpool forward ….. We are doomed,” added Valomek.
The message from NifferEUW was: “First place in groups just to draw Liverpool. I'm actually scared.”
Their messages show just how far Liverpool have come under Klopp. And that this Bayern team is significantly weaker than previous editions.
Hubbleshubbles opined: “Unless Liverpool pull a Liverpool, I literally don't see us standing any kind of chance.
“Biggest reason is Kovac being our coach.”

Remember, we’re talking about a team in Bayern than has won the German title in six straight years and was the champions of Europe in 2013.
Kovac’s squad is still filled with high-profile names, including Manuel Neuer, Mats Hummels, Thiago and Robert Lewandowski, but there’s not much confidence that this group will be able to stop a Liverpool side that is firing on all cylinders right now.
