Manchester City are through to the Carabao Cup semi-final after beating Leicester on penalties at the King Power Stadium. Both sides made plenty of changes ahead of the tie but Pep Guardiola could still call upon the likes of Kyle Walker, Riyad Mahrez, Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne - as the Belgian makes his return from injury. And it was a moment of magic from De Bruyne that opened the scoring.Just 14 minutes in, the midfielder produced a brilliant piece of skill to gain himself a yard before firing past Danny Ward from 25 yards. For the rest of the first-half, it looked as though City would go on to dominate. However, out of nowhere, substitute Marc Albrighton got in down the right and fired past Arijanet Muric to make it 1-1 in the 73rd-minute.Neither side did enough to win so the tie went straight to penalties after the 90 minutes. But it was a pretty disastrous penalty shootout, in truth.Eight penalties were taken but only four were scored.Unfortunately for Leicester, three of them were scored by the visitors as they went through 3-1.But Raheem Sterling did suffer the indignity of missing his spot-kick after attempting a Panenka. However, Sterling put far too much on his penalty and stuck it over the bar - much to the delight of goalkeeper Ward. The former Liverpool ‘keeper went up into the face of Sterling and laughed - something that fans of his ex-club thoroughly enjoyed.

But City’s dreams of winning the quadruple are still alive despite Sterling's penalty.

They trail Liverpool by one point in the Premier League but will fancy their chances of progressing to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after being drawn against Schalke in the last-16.

As well as being in the last-four of the Carabao Cup, City will face Rotherham at home in the FA Cup.
