Given Manchester United's treacherous run in all competitions so far this season, Mourinho's sacking was almost inevitable. However, nobody expected the United board to be so proactive in relieving Mourinho of his managerial duties.

The decision stunned the entire footballing world. United fans rejoiced as the prospect of a happy squad playing decent football once seemed too good to be true.

A slew of reports have since surfaced claiming morale in the United camp is already remarkably better. One player in particular who is likely to be pleased with Jose's dismissal is Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman's dwindling relationship with the manager has overshadowed much of United's season so far.

Shortly after United confirmed Mourinho's departure, posts across Twitter and Instagram on Pogba's official accounts showed a picture of him smirking with the caption: "Caption this."

The posts were swiftly taken down. An Adidas representative later confirmed they were scheduled posts from the company as part of a marketing campaign.

Despite this, it appears that Pogba will still be punished by the club.

According to the Daily Mail, United bosses are angered by the post which they believe was in bad taste. Pogba is also expected to be fined by the club for his actions.

The post drew a hearty response from United legend and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, who said: "You can do one as well."

Another former United player Patrice Evra, who played with Pogba at Juventus, responded to the news, urging for 'only positivity.'

He tweeted a video on Tuesday saying: "The thing that is annoying me the most right now is why are people so focused on Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho.

"Let's focus on rebuilding something solid instead of being in a playground. Doing this is only disrespecting the badge.

"From now on we only need positivity."

If reports are to be believed, United will soon announce Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new interim head coach.

This could be good news for Pogba, given that the Norwegian previously revealed he would build the team around him if he was United boss.

What do you think of the situation? Should Pogba be punished? Or was it more of a gaff from his social media team? Let us know in the comments.
