Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has officially been appointed Manchester United's new manager.

The Norwegian will take the role until the end of the 2018/19 season.

Solskjear scored 126 times in 366 appearances in what was a hugely successful 12 season stint at the club during his time as a player.

And he is clearly ecstatic to return to the club as the new manager.

"Manchester United is in my heart and it's brilliant to be coming back in this role," said the Norwegian, per the BBC.

"This is an opportunity I had to take.

"I'm really looking forward to working with the very talented squad we have, the staff and everyone at the club."

Solskjaer has a huge job on his hands.

Manchester United are currently underachieving massively this season and currently occupy sixth in the Premier League, a distant 19 points behind Liverpool.

One of his biggest challenges will be getting the best out of Paul Pogba.

The French midfielder has struggled throughout the season, with numerous clashes with Jose Mourinho off the pitch and poor performances on it.

But what will Solskjaer do with Pogba?

He was asked about Pogba back in August, and it seems he had a very high opinion of him.

"I would [build the team around him], absolutely no doubt," he said, per Sky Sports.

"I had him with David [Gray] and Etzaz [Hussain] who is playing for me tomorrow.

"That just shows how far the kid has come. Paul is a fantastic kid so hopefully we can build the team around him and keep him."

Interesting stuff.

Pogba has not been playing as much as he would have wanted to in recent weeks.

In the past six Premier League games, he has started just twice and featured for just 172 minutes.

He was left on the bench completely for three of those games, including in away defeats to Manchester City and Liverpool.

But it seems his fortunes may be about to change under Solskjaer.

Man United's new boss clearly has a high opinion of the controversial French midfielder and getting the best out of Pogba may well be one of his main priorities.
