Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment as Manchester United's caretaker boss has been music to fan's ears after a treacherous time under Jose Mourinho.The Norwegian will begin his tenure against old side Cardiff City of whom Solskjaer managed for eight months back in 2014.The babyfaced assassin managed to score 126 goals in 366 games.Known as United's super-sub of the nineties and early noughties, Solskjaer famously scored four goals in the last ten minutes from the bench in an 8-1 win over Nottingham Forest.But above all else, Solskjaer's last-minute exploits in the 1999 Champions League final against Bayern Munich have made the new caretaker boss a cult hero.Goals from Teddy Sheringham and Solskjaer in injury-time sealed an unbelievable comeback for Manchester United and their first European trophy since 1968 - ten years after the Munich air disaster.The appointment of Solskjaer has meant that the fond memories of that night in Barcelona have resurfaced through the art of social media.

The United faithful have been quick to post nostalgic pictures or comment about the game, so much so that the team on the receiving end, Bayern Munich, have had enough.

The German club has won the tournament twice since that fateful day - in 2001 and 2013 - but are still clearly hurt from the manner in which they lost the final to the Red Devils.

United fans were quick to respond to Bayern Munich's Twitter post by rubbing further salt in the wound with pictures of Solskjaer celebrating United's victory.

This act was no doubt done in jest and it's just a comical way of Bayern showing they remember how events transpired all too well.

It also allows United fans a brief respite to look back on their trophy-laden years just days after Mourinho's departure.

No matter how successful Solskjaer's brief reign is as United boss, he will always have a place in the Red's hearts because of that one goal.
