Mustafa Ali was caught apologising to Daniel Bryan after botched move on SmackDown

Vince McMahon promised a 'fresh start' on Monday Night Raw after several weeks of mediocrity, and that also extended to SmackDown Live.

Seen as the better of the two shows, the blue brand has been doing a lot of things right in recent times.

The tag team division is shades ahead of Raw's, the women are putting on killer matches and feuds and 'The New' Daniel Bryan is most definitely the top heel in the company.

But change was indeed on the horizon, starting with the removal of Paige as the General Manager.

An unpopular decision with the fans, ironic considering the McMahons stated they were giving the authority to the WWE Universe, but a pleasant surprise was around the corner with the reveal of a new roster member.

After an impressive showing the previous week against Bryan, Mustafa Ali was given a spot on the SmackDown roster on a permanent basis - and was to team up with AJ Styles against Bryan and Andrade 'Cien' Almas in the main event.

No-one could actually foresee Ali picking up a victory against the current WWE Champion in just his second main roster match, but it became a real prospect once he climbed the turnbuckle after a vicious DDT.

And with Styles taking Almas out of the equation with a Phenomenal Forearm, Ali shockingly put Bryan away with his Inverted 450 Splash finishing manoeuvre.

Daniel Bryan and Mustafa Ali come to blows once again on SmackDown.

Lots of watching fans though immediately heard Ali say something to Bryan as he pinned him for the win, after he landed the rough-looking 054.

It seemed as though Ali's knee caught Bryan in the chest or throat, and there will have been much concern after Bryan's injury scares in recent years.

Ringside cameras did pick up Ali apologising to Bryan immediately though.

Furthermore, Fightful have reported that Ali was very apologetic as the fighters stepped through the curtain following the conclusion of SmackDown, and Bryan was adamant that he was fine after the bump.

Hopefully Ali won't be punished for the misdemeanour, and judging by spoilers from the Christmas Day episode, he will continue to flourish.

Maybe the McMahons will shock us all and give Ali a WWE Championship opportunity in the near future.
