Brighton have completed the signing of West Brom forward Chris Wood on a loan deal until January 3.

The 18-year-old, who played in the summer's World Cup for New Zealand, has featured once for the Baggies this season whilst he made seven appearances for Barnsley in a loan deal which was terminated earlier this month by mutual consent.

"It is no secret that we have been working to bring another striker to the club, and Chris is a player we have been aware of for a long time and working to get here for a while," Seagulls boss Gus Poyet told the club's official website.

"He is highly thought of by those at West Bromwich Albion. He is a bid, strong, powerful forward and will give us something different in terms of an attacking option, and extra competition alongside our other strikers."

Poyet also confirmed that despite the arrival of Wood he is still in the market for a replacement for Kazenga LuaLua whose loan spell from Newcastle came to a premature end after he broke his ankle during last Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Hartlepool.

He added: "Chris's arrival is unrelated to Kazenga's injury; we still need a replacement for him, and everyone is working hard on getting someone here as soon as possible."
