Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take charge of his first Manchester United game as manager against Cardiff on Saturday evening.

The Norwegian manager has had experience managing in the Premier League before, having been Cardiff boss for a period of nine months in 2014.

His time with the Welsh club was not successful, however, with Solskjaer's side being relegated in his first season in charge and was then sacked after a poor start to the Championship campaign.

Solskjaer admitted on Friday morning that he made mistakes during his time with Cardiff but that he learned a lot during his stint.

"I have had 300-400 games as a first-team manager," he said, per the BBC.

"The period at Cardiff was a huge step for me and I learned a lot. I have evaluated and reflected on it. Unfortunately, I made a few mistakes, but if you do not make mistakes you do not learn.

"And Cardiff are in the Premier League now so I don't think they're too unhappy about it."

Many will have their doubts about Solskjaer given his previous experience as a manager.

He failed in the Premier League with Cardiff, while the United job represents a massive step up from his previous employment at Molde.

Few United fans will know much about Solskjaer as a manager, but he showed exactly what he's all about at United's Christmas party on Wednesday.

Jose Mourinho had failed to turn up to United's Christmas party last year but, according to the Sun, Solskjaer was keen to set the right tone in order to try and provide a much-needed boost to the club.

So, what did he have in mind?

Towards the end of the night, Solskjaer is said to have stood up in front of his colleagues and made a rousing speech.

Although details of the speech have not been shared, his speech went down very well as he was upon finishing he was greeted with a rapturous reception.

The Sun state how 'it was the perfect way to end what was a long first day in his new interim role'.

He's only a few days into his reign at United, but it seems he's already made a positive impact at the club.

He's clearly got the respect of his colleagues at the club and he will be hoping that can continue throughout his reign.
