Whenever John Cena is brought up in conversation, two things are now brought up more than ever - his Hollywood switch and a heel turn.
It seems like a Cena heel turn is now out of the equation, primarily because of the fact that Cena is hardly around to take part in an actual storyline both worth investing in and something where a heel turn actually holds some value.
Now, it seems like the most we'll get out of Cena is the sporadic appearance at a live event or a short storyline on television whenever the WWE needs him.
Now, Cena is busy promoting Bumblebee and is busy doing the press rounds to promote arguably his biggest role in Hollywood so far.
During a recent interview, Cena commented on WWE fans calling for him to turn heel after years of hearing the same thing.
He explained that fans want him to turn heel so that he's cool again, but his thought process is that a heel turn means he's good - as it's what the fans want so he's effectively a heel right now instead.
According to NoDQ, he said: "It's weird with me because I am supposed to be the hero, but I'm actually the heel, and everyone's just like, 'Man, why don't you just turn bad so you can be cool again!'," Cena continued.
"Wait, wouldn't that make me good? I don't even know. And it's fun to like go into the WWE warpzone with those folks. They think I'm supposed to be a bad guy to be a good guy, but aren't I already being a bad guy?
"Just wait until the debut of The CFO."
Cena's comments make sense but at this stage, it's not about turning heel but more about getting the most out of Cena while the WWE can before he effectively can't compete anymore, much like The Rock.
Bigger Hollywood roles mean the less likely it is that he will be able to compete in the WWE moving forward.
