What a difference a week makes.

This time seven days ago, Manchester United were still reeling from another disappointing loss to league leaders Liverpool and it was difficult to see a way forward.

Fast forward a few days and Jose Mourinho has been binned, the toxic environment has been quashed and the thick gloom engulfing the club has lifted dramatically.

They even managed to score five goals for the first time since the Sir Alex Ferguson days.

While the coming months promise to be very exciting for United fans, you can’t help but feel that the rapid and vast change at the club shows that the players had simply downed tools under Jose.

It was the same team that managed to score five on Saturday as the one that had been struggling for any kind of identity in the previous months.

Now, former footballer turned actor Vinnie Jones has called out the players and the club, claiming that the season ticket holders deserve to get half their money back.

You can always trust Vinnie to have a very strong opinion, but, speaking on the Alan Brazil talk show on TalkSport, he made a very valid point.

“With the players obviously going against their manager, how about giving the supporters half of their money back?

“The players didn’t play for the first half of the season, so give the supporters half of their season ticket money back.

“When you’re watching your team, you at least want the players to be roaring around with their hearts on their sleeves.

“The supporters want to team to absolutely work their socks off and give 150 per cent, but that hasn’t happened for nearly half the season.

“So I think Manchester United should be looking at refunding the supporters half of their season ticket money.”

You wouldn’t be surprised if many of the fans agreed with Jones.

United were simply woeful in the first half of the season and it is simply not fair to the paying fan.

Their whole season only seems to be starting now and fans can feel rightly aggrieved about events of the first six months.
