Tony Mowbray admitted he was a long way from finding a winning formula as his struggling Middlesbrough side slipped back into the npower Championship bottom three with a 1-0 home defeat to Millwall.
Boro had clawed their way away from the danger zone as the new boss conjured back-to-back wins but now successive defeats at Swansea then to the Londoners have plunged them back into the basement.
"Managers have come here every week and said we have a good squad of players and on paper we have," said Mowbray.
"But it is not about how good the individuals are. It is about finding the balance and finding a shape that accommodates them to the best effect as team that can win football matches.
"We have two big name strikers here that have made reputations by scoring a lot of goals in Scotland but unless we can find a way of getting them working together as a unit it will not benefit us.
"It is about finding the formula that can help you win games and get points and the evidence of this is that we have not found that."
