Daniel Bryan launched a brutal attack on R-Truth on the Xmas Day edition of SmackDown Live

WWE fans were treated to a dose of the blue brand on Christmas Day, as a pre-taped episode of SmackDown Live aired.

Rusev defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in the main event for the United Stated Championship, and AJ Styles shockingly laid out Vince McMahon with a firm right hand after he urged the Phenomenal One to show some more fire.

But it opened up with a hilarious R-Truth and Carmella skit as they pretended to be Santa Claus and an elf, and it was going oh so well - until Daniel Bryan showed up.

'The New' Bryan has been set on lecturing the WWE Universe about climate change and how they are destroying the planet with their consuming habits, and his digs to Truth were no different.

As Truthy Claus and Carmella were trying to bring some Christmas spirit to the blue brand, Bryan cut them back down to size, calling Truth a joke for his whole run with the WWE.

It was always going to end badly for Truth with the way Bryan has been acting lately, and the attack came during a dance break.

Bryan took Truth out by the leg and then preceded to wrap it around the ring post, adding to that with a Heel Hook and vicious stomps to the face.

Not a very Christmassy thing to do, Daniel.

Daniel Bryan viciously assaulted R-Truth on SmackDown.

It could have been a way to write Truth out of the upcoming Royal Rumble, where he's scheduled to enter at number 30 after winning the Mixed Match Challenge.

Of course though the fans love a surprise entrant to come in the Rumble match last, so writing Truth out would make sense as he's clearly not going to win.

Or the WWE could just be swerving us and just needed some cannon fodder to make Bryan look stronger going into 2019.

We all know Truth deserves better though, give him more to do WWE!
