Cristiano Ronaldo has divided opinion among football fans throughout his illustrious career.

Although millions of people around the world idolise the Portuguese superstar, others have struggled to warm to him, despite his world-class talent.

Rightly or wrongly, there are football fans who perceive Ronaldo as an arrogant, cocky, prima-donna.

However, that doesn’t tell the whole story about Ronaldo’s character.

For starters, you’d do well to find a better professional than the 33-year-old. Any aspiring footballer looking to maximise their talent should look to the way Ronaldo keeps himself in peak physical condition off the pitch.

Ronaldo is also the father of four children these days and posted a lovely family photo alongside his fiancee Georgina Rodriguez on Christmas Day.

To his credit, it’s also emerged that Ronaldo and Georgina spent Christmas Eve at the Regina Margherita hospital in Turin, visiting children on the paediatric ward.

Per Spanish newspaper AS, the couple handed out presents while chatting with the kids, their families and staff.

Ronaldo also posed for photos with the children and staff at the facility.

The Juventus star was greeted by the director of the hospital and the chief of the oncology department, before spending time with the young patients.

What a lovely gesture.

Ronaldo receives a lot of stick from people, but this may help to change a few opinions about him.

Cynics will probably say this was a PR stunt - designed to boost his public image - but visiting those kids would have made their day regardless.

It sounds like Ronaldo made a positive impression on everybody he met at the hospital.

Of course, Ronaldo is not the only footballer to visit poorly children at hospital around this time of year, but he still deserves huge credit for taking the time to do the same.

The former Real Madrid icon is in action on Boxing Day afternoon against Atalanta.

However, it’s understood Max Allegri will hand the team’s number seven a well-deserved rest, possibly naming him among the Juventus substitutes.
