What a Boxing Day for Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Newcastle 4-0 at Anfield to remain at the top of the Premier League.

But rather than maintain their lead, they actually extended it thanks to Leicester City beating Manchester City 2-1.

It means the Reds are now six points clear of Spurs - who leapfrogged City into second after thrashing Bournemouth 5-0.

There was plenty for Liverpool fans to be happy - including four different goalscorers.

Meanwhile, at the other end, it was yet another clean sheet for Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson.

It means Liverpool have now conceded just seven goals in their 19 league matches this season.

However, it was very nearly eight goals after Alisson’s rash moment in injury-time.

As a low cross came in from the right, he rushed out of his penalty area to make a sliding tackle, sending Joselu absolutely flying.

He then dived in on Sean Longstaff, who beat him with a dummy, before Alisson eventually got back to make a fantastic save.

Take a look:

At 0-0, Liverpool fans would have been going mad. At 4-0 up in injury-time, Liverpool fans loved seeing that kind of commitment from their number one.

Liverpool will now turn their attention to Arsenal, who they host on Saturday evening at Anfield.

Then, on January 3, the mouth-watering clash between City and Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium could have a massive say on the title race.

We advise that Alisson is less rash than he was in injury-time against Newcastle when he faces those two sides...
