Lionel Messi has scaled heights that very few players - quite possibly none - have done so in the history of football.

But despite all of the fame, fortune and adulation that has come Messi’s way throughout his illustrious career, the Argentine forward remains the same humble lad who burst onto the scene during the mid-2000s.

It’s quite remarkable that Messi has managed to stay so grounded over the past 15 years. For many people in the same position, it would have been all too much to handle.

Football has produced many flawed geniuses over the decades, but Messi certainly isn’t one of them.

Any aspiring footballer looking at how to conduct themselves both on and off the pitch should look to Barcelona’s legendary No. 10 for inspiration.

However, Messi is such an iconic footballer and has done so much for Barça that he effectively calls the shots at the Camp Nou.

Managers and players have to keep on Messi’s good side in order to remain at the club. However, because he’s so easy-going, that’s not particularly difficult.

You suspect that Messi doesn’t have a bad word to say about anyone.

Ivan Rakitic, however, may soon find himself in trouble with Barça’s main man unless he sorts out his decision-making on the pitch.

Footage from the 2-0 win over Celta Vigo showed Messi showing his frustration with the Croatian midfielder, who passed back to defence instead of playing the ball forward.

As one Barça fan has pointed out on Twitter, Rakitic annoying Messi with his decision-making on the pitch is not a one-off incident.

Here are two previous examples where the same thing has happened…

The Barça supporter who posted the videos also posted a series of further damning tweets explaining why Rakitic is not good enough for the Catalan giants.

That may seem harsh on a player who has helped the club win multiple trophies during his four-and-a-half seasons at the Camp Nou - including three La Liga titles, four Copas del Rey and the UEFA Champions League - but the fact of the matter is there is a group of Barça fans who have little love for the 30-year-old.
