The end is nigh for Aaron Ramsey's time at Arsenal.

Unai Emery has reportedly made it clear the Welshman doesn't feature in his future plans, so he will leave for free next summer when his current contract expires.

It's a decision that's confused and angered Arsenal fans, who have grown to love Ramsey during his ten-and-a-half years at the club.

Ramsey is now playing for his future away from Arsenal as the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain weigh up pre-contract agreements for January.

Where he will end up remains to be seen, but until such time Emery wants Ramsey to show commitment to Arsenal and help them achieve their goals.

"For me, the most important thing for every player is for their focus to be here," said Emery in a recent press conference.

"They have their individual situations or circumstances in their contract in their present and in their future. But my present, my future is here in Arsenal.

"They show me the focus for us and I think it's not easy for Aaron, but I spoke with him and we need his performances for us.

"He played yesterday with a good spirit, like I want and he helped us, not to win but he was working well. I am happy. I need this focus also from him.

"His future is only for him and for his agent. Above all, I want and he should have his focus for helping us."

It's expected that Emery already has a replacement lined up for Ramsey and according to Mundo Deportivo, he's closing in on an £18m deal.

Ever Banega's agent recently flew to London and it's claimed talks are underway over Arsenal triggering the Argentine's release clause.

Banega, 30, wants to leave Sevilla and has previously worked with Emery, so there's a strong belief that an agreement will be struck for a January move.

How Arsenal fans will feel about allowing Ramsey to leave for an older midfielder will soon become clear, but it's yet another sign of Emery sculpting Arsenal's squad to match his philosophy.
