Although the Royal Rumble event is right around the corner, there are still some major matches yet to be announced.

We know that Braun Strowman will, once again, challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship, but there aren't many other matches that have been announced.

ROYAL RUMBLE

The two Royal Rumble matches will obviously be going ahead as is tradition, while Buddy Murphy is also expected to defend his Cruiserweight Championship in a Fatal Four-Way match against three other names.

There was one match that had initially been announced but was seemingly scrapped, with fans left wondering just what the plan is for Asuka and her SmackDown Women's Championship.

Although it was announced that a singles match will be going ahead between The Empress and Becky Lynch, the idea was quickly dropped on social media courtesy of former general manager of the blue brand, Paige.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer recently commented on the situation and highlighted that the entire card is being re-evaluated and nobody knows what the current plan is for the championship match.

Instead, meetings are rumoured to be taking place so that the card can be finalised.

WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP

According to No DQ, he said: "So they’re going to do meetings this week to come up with a Rumble card.”

“Originally the [Asuka vs Becky Lynch] match was happening, but then Vince decided that he wanted to revamp the card and they were - when they taped Main Event it was gonna air later in the week.

"At that time, the plan was to announce the match with Asuka and Becky Lynch on Tuesday’s SmackDown, but during that interim period, Vince decided to change his mind so they never announced that match on that SmackDown.

"Not saying that match won’t happen but it was definitely off when that show came on.”

The women have been killing it recently and a singles match between them would be welcomed by the fans.

They're on the top of their game right now and heading into WrestleMania season, fans would love to see them go at it.
