Jon Jones recorded a comeback win last night at UFC 232 against Alexander Gustafsson in his first fight in over a year. The 31-year-old American received a 15-month suspension in September last year by the USADA after testing positive for the anabolic steroid Turinabol from his fight against Daniel Cormier in July 2017.That fight against Cormier, in which Jones won, was eventually overturned due to the positive result of Jones’ test. The fight against Gustafsson was highly anticipated following the first meeting between the two in 2013, which Jones won by a controversial unanimous decision in an epic contest.Gustafsson never really got going this time around as he did in the previous fight, his renowned footwork was lacking as Jones took the opening fight with numerous good body-kicks.Round two was a slightly more even contest, with the Swede finding his feet in the contest, but you never felt as though Jones wasn’t in control of the fight. The key moment came in the third round when Jones mounted Gustafsson following a takedown and reverted to pound and ground brawling to finish the fight. After a succession of clubbing hooks to Gustafsson, the fight was stopped, with Jones announced the victor and the UFC light-heavyweight champion. The victory for Jones did prompt the tweet from Cormier, who suggested that the twice banned Jones should be winning due to being at an advantage.

Unsurprisingly, Cormier's tweet gained quite the attraction from fight fans across the globe.

After being posted, it received over 5,000 retweets and over 20,000 likes. As well as that, it also got over 4,000 replies, proving that it triggered a response from many and raised a lot of eyebrows.

The comments from the pair spark the possibility of a potential rematch between the two, with bad blood clearly still in the air, however, Jones has stated that he doesn’t intend to fight Cormier at heavyweight.
