It was another fantastic day for Liverpool on Saturday.

Their 5-1 victory over Arsenal sent them nine points clear at the top of the Premier League - although Manchester City could reduce that to seven on Sunday afternoon.

A Roberto Firmino hat-trick and goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane saw Liverpool come back from 1-0 down to register another impressive victory.

However, it could have been a very different story had referee Michael Oliver seen Mane’s behaviour after just six minutes.

Replays showed Mane grab Stephan Lichtsteiner around the neck and appear to choke him.

However, replays failed to show what happened just seconds previously.

As Mane tried getting on the end of a through-ball, his Swiss opponent gave him a little elbow to the head - something that clearly infuriated Mane.

Take a look:

That doesn’t give Mane permission to ‘strangle’ Lichtsteiner but it goes some way of explaining his angry reaction.

Liverpool will just be hoping that Mane doesn’t receive any retrospective punishment for his role in the scuffle.

The Reds face Man City on Thursday knowing the gap between the two sides could be four points with a loss or 10 points with a win - assuming City beat Southampton on Sunday.

But Klopp isn’t thinking about the possibility of winning the title just yet.

"In our case, by the way, tomorrow it will be seven and when we play against Man City it could be four. It's possible,” Klopp said.

"I'm not the smartest person in the world but I'm really not an idiot - not always, at least. It's absolutely not important how many points you are ahead in December, even in the end of December."
