Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has enjoyed a positive start to life as the manager of Manchester United.

While his position is only temporary for the time being, the Norwegian’s presence appears to have already made a huge difference to the mood around Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has done away with the overly defensive mentality instilled by Jose Mourinho and replaced it with a free-flowing style of which his players are relishing.

The 45-year-old is two wins from two after beating Cardiff 5-1 and Huddersfield 3-1 in his first two weeks on the job.

All in all, Solskjaer looks very much at home so far.

But that’s not to say the former Red Devil is only at United to see them coast to the end of the season.

In fact, Solskjaer has plenty to offer from a coaching perspective.

Per Sky Sports, he claims his combination of striking prowess and experience developing the club’s youngsters as reserve team manager can help the likes of Marcus Rashford.

Solskjaer claims the 21-year-old has “far more than I did in terms of his physical attributes” but hopes to complement his strengths by passing on “a little bit of the nous I had inside the box”.

“I wasn't born with it,” he continued.

“I studied finishing, I studied goals, I studied movement. I worked on my mentality because that's key. You will always miss chances but you can't do anything about them once they've gone.

“It's always about the next chance. You have got to be one step ahead as a striker, to create that space you need.”

Solskjaer also cited his first posting at United where he worked with none other than Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez to improve their finishing.

“My first job here after I finished playing was as a forwards' coach. So I worked with Cristiano, Wayne, Danny Welbeck, Tevez was here. That was a good start for me.

“But my strength was putting the ball in the net and I am sure I can give these boys a little bit of detail into scoring goals. But in terms of talent and physical attributes, the strikers here have got loads more than I had.”

That’s a prospect that can only excite the red half of Manchester.

Unfortunately, Solskjaer has barely six months to work his magic - unless his caretaker role is made permanent, that is.
